Lesson 14
What Are Siva's Traditional Forms?
Every form is a form of Siva. They are few forms of special sacredness. Sivalingam is found in every Siva temple and other temples too. It symbolizes His formless state. Ardhanariswara symbolizes Siva Sakti, half male and half female, both are inseparable. Nadaraja, symbolizes Primal Soul, the divine dancer, the creator, preserver, destroyer, revealer, and concealer. These 3 forms symbolize Siva's three perfections. Another form Dakshinamoorthy, the silent Guru, is mentioned in Upanishad, Hari-Hara, half Siva and half Vishnu, Panchabrahma, Siva with 5 faces. Tirumantiram says, " Everywhere is the Holy Form. Everywhere is SivaShakthi. Everywhere is the Divine Dance."
More details, available in the book Path To Siva by Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami.
